LA84 – So So Happy

Screen shot 2015-04-07 at 11.59.23And now a venture across the pond to let the spine-tingling sounds of LA84 flows through your body as the indie-pop duo from Los Angeles surprise you with the hard-hitting drums that accompany their fine blend of indie guitars and pop structures.

It doesn’t feel a million miles away from something you might have heard from The Offspring yet there’s something so utterly modern about the way the track is produced, the drums play such a central role that it’s impossible to ignore them yet the vocal/guitar combination that brings such sweet melodies is as reliable as they come. It’s great to hear the vocals coming at you from all directions as if you’re surrounded by a gang of guitar-wielding rockstars, cornering you until you submit to their demands and admit that you’re unable to resist their strictly Californian sound. In a way this seems like America’s answer to the Dandy Warhols, it’s got that added bite which makes it so unpredictable and this altered approach to song-making is sure to raise a few eyebrows.

If this is what they’re making out in LA I may just have to take a holiday…
