Fans of Florence and her almighty machine should listen right up as the brilliant HVMNS are on hand with an anthemic delight which shows off their ability to create an intensity with their music that the red-headed songstress herself would be proud to put out.
Though the vocals cannot quite match up to Florence’s inimitable talents they do a damn good job of drawing you right in and the passion that comes through with each and every word shows that there’s a real desire to perform right down in the depths of the pair’s souls. Having only stumbled across them by accident at a gig earlier this year they’ve been an Indiana Jones level treasure of a find as the sheer power of their music and the emotional contents within make for utterly spell-binding listening. Whether you find yourself focused on the murky basslines, the sharp as you like synths or any of the other fascinating instrumental sounds that build a worthy raft for this talented vocalist to rest upon, there’s surely something that’ll bring a cheeky rise to one corner of your mouth aas you clock on to just how impressive these two are.
I don’t need to say any more – the music more than speaks for itself and is all lined up and ready to blow you so far away that you’ll need to get a bus back home.
