Polo – Gold Horizons

screen-shot-2017-02-08-at-20-31-58Sounding like it has the potential to be a backing track for a late ’90s chat-topping pop banger trying to be R&B or something, this latest tune from Polo is actually pretty impressive. Maybe it’s the exquisite vocals, the way it’s able to channel all sorts of past pop bangers or the fact that it’s catchier than an STD in fresher’s week.

Each move feels more defined that Cara Delevingne’s eyebrows (for the record, I spelt her name horrendously wrong first time and I’m quite pleased by that) and every little aural burst adds a new, exciting element into the mix. There’s no denying that this is a beaut of a pop song that’ll have the trendy times up and showing off their moves. But those white boys learning rapidly that they can’t dance will have to face up to the fact that they’ll never be as cool as this no matter how endlessly hard they try. Those poor things, they just haven’t quite got what it takes to be brilliant. Whereas this… Well, this is brilliant in every last why you look at it – even if you’re only catching it from a dodgy side angle because you can’t quite reach that pen you dropped on the floor after you were stunned by how cracking this tune is.

Yeah, alright, I love this a little bit. Shut up, we’re all allowed to indulge in poppy goodness every once in a while. You might even be a bit of a stalker-esque fan for it too if you’re not careful.
