Get this pumping through your stereo straight away, Cape Mandala are making some of the finest music you’ll come across on the other side of the Atlantic. There are plenty of British bands that you can hear influencing the sounds throughout this EP but the final product is something that’s very much the band’s own signature sound and it’ll get your toes tapping more than a good old fashioned hootenanny.
The guitars are reminiscent of some of the finer 90s guitarists that were on offer over here in the UK and the rampaging drums are filled with all the energy of Keith Moon whilst the bass plays lines that would make most of the current flock of indie bassists weep. As for the vocals, their delivery is masterful and yet retains that sense of the underdog that can make indie music so alluring. The opening track to this EP is one of the finest indie tracks you’re likely to hear coming back across the Atlantic and this is the first independent American indie band that I’ve come across that are making exactly the sort of music that I’ve been screaming out for.
From start to finish, this EP from Cape Mandala has had me grinning like a Cheshire cat. What a belter!
