Inner Outlaws – The Mark

Screen shot 2015-03-13 at 14.32.52As someone who has always been a fan of shows like Hustle, where I pick up all the tricks I do at the weekend to make sure that I can afford to eat, the concept of a ‘mark’ is one I’m familiar with and it seems that Inner Outlaws are too as they went and gone done this here-y song about it.

Blending male and female voices together to create an almost eerie vibe that just about stays on the right side of being a pleasant lead, they have a stripped-back selection of instruments in support. The tracks works really nicely with the mostly stagnant bassline running through the track almost as if it is a metronome – this may just be the key to the band’s expertly captured Fleetwood Mac essence – whilst guitars and backing vocals help add a little more mystique that adds a very welcome added texture to this track which is bound to raise the hairs on the back of your neck.

Everything seems to be merging into one lane, in a format much more pleasant than being on the motorway, and by the time the track reaches its conclusions we’re left with an overwhelmingly united sound that strikes right at your very core.
