With the driving, pulsating energy of We Are Scientists running right through their upcoming album To The Black Sea, Portrayal have clearly figured out exactly how to make music tailor-made for me. I jest, of course, as there are surely few people with a love of indie/alternative music that wouldn’t be able to appreciate the charm of these Editors-influenced sounds as they cascade through your ears like a thunderbolt of aural bliss.
The upcoming album is full of excellent offerings and the track you can hear below, ‘On Wire‘, is definitely one of the stronger efforts. The duo combine some top-notch basslines with a surprisingly light vocal which feels far more approachable than the angry approach you’ll often hear in music such as this. They’re clearly not afraid to show emotion within their music and this is just one of the many factors that make Portrayal well worth keeping an eye on.
