Don’t be disheartened by the lo-fi introduction, there are plenty of melodic gems to entice you in this latest offering from American outfit Bells Atlas as they fuse soulful harmonies with an industrial drumbeat to create a song that’s so frightfully addictive that you may just find yourself becoming obsessed with it.
Once the track kicks into life in all its shimmering glory if feels like a mellow Ibibio Sound Machine offering, primarily due to the African rhythms and the gorgeous voice of lead singer Sandra Lawson-Ndu – she could sing through a dictionary and I’d still be at her beck and call. The way that the sounds sparkle in the the sunlight is so delightful and the uplifting mood that this blend of sounds creates makes it a must-listen track for any time of day. Filled with tight harmonies and some top-notch guitar play, as well as the previously mentioned rhythmic beauty, it’s easy to find yourself getting lost in this song. Hopefully you’ll be able to find your way out, though if you don’t there are certainly worse places to lose your head.
Surrender to the sunshine and let Bells Atlas take care of all your worries.
Love this so much. I can’t stop listening to them and Leon Bridges! Amazing vocals!
