The Lightning Year – Endless Memory

screen-shot-2017-01-31-at-20-44-37I know, you’re right, it really is time for some top-notch synth/psych pop to entertain the masses and I think exactly what you’re looking for can be heard in something with a silhouette that’s an exact match for this debut outing from The Lightning Year.

It’s got a right old school pop vibe to it with flecks of the ’80s pumping away alongside a much more modern synthesiser collection. Gentle vocals are key to this one staying on the straight and narrow and it surely won’t take long for you to realise this is far more than your run-of-the-mill synth-pop burnout. It comes complete with a warmth that no Cup-A-Soup could ever bring and almost adds a full on sense of security around your shoulders that you may well have felt was missing in recent weeks. Richer and thicker than even the finest of chocolate soufflés, this feels so much more fulfilling than your average synthy pop song and it leaves you with somewhat of a lingering sense of achievement despite the fact all you’ve been doing is sipping tea from your favourite mug while sat in your pants with headphones on as other people’s work fills your ears.

That’s what you’re all doing too, right? If not, why not? Living the dream, boys and girls. Oh, yeah this is really good and all that.
