Brenda Xu – Light Of The Moon

Screen shot 2015-01-25 at 12.15.47If you’re going to attempt to bare all and open a track with such a subtle, ambient feeling as Brenda Xu does with this little beauty, you have to make sure that you’re able to manage the space just right and leave enough time lingering for the listener to be dragged right to the very edge of their seat before you give them the music that they so desperately crave.

With a chilled out vocal delivery that’ll have you begging for more each time it fades away from your ears, the track thrives on the anticipation of any budding listener who is constantly left hanging on and, in their heads of course, screaming out for more aural fulfilment right away. The key to this patience is the tightness of the support band as a whole and as we’re finally treated to a full band sounds you’ll find that almost 3 minutes have already passed, despite the pleasantness of the music making it feel like merely seconds have elapsed.

A more grounded piece of music than this has yet to grace my ears so far in 2015 and Brenda Xu has the wonderful ability to have the audience eating out of the palm of her hand in an instant.
