This seems to have been a week in which some of the best bands I’ve covered since setting up WCT last year have made a bit of a resurgence (go on, I know you’re only here to read about the ace Moonlands but there are some proper top drawer tracks on site this week!). This lot are writing indie-pop songs better than most, combining memorable chorus melodies with inch-perfect guitar riffs to create something that you won’t be able to get out of your head, even if you were to flood your ears with other sounds for hours on end.
It’s the allure of the guitar play that makes this offering so sweetly brilliant, though in all truth the strength of the rhythm section is well worth keeping an eye on and the lead vocals are some of the finest I’ve come across since I got into the world of music reviewing. It comes together so ideally as a pop song, each section has a certain appeal and they fit together better than any jigsaw puzzle I’ve ever forced into place.
To put it bluntly, this offering is simply faultless.
