With a voice at the helm that feels like a cross between a young Guy Garvey and a significantly calmer Noel Gallagher, Those Goddamn Hippies are taking some of the finer elements from their musical forefathers and splicing them with an up-to-date approach that makes this music feel like it has stepped straight out of a time vortex and onto the stage.
(and breathe…)
The pulsating bass leads the way whilst an array of synth and guitar melodies take you right out of your own head space and into that of the hippies in charge. The chorus melodies, lifted by some truly inspired harmonies, are pure melt-in-your-mouth stuff and there seems to be something of an innocence about the general delivery of the track as it never seeks to over-complicate or intrude, it’s simply happy being the enjoyable 4 minutes of pleasure that it undoubtedly is.
As there are so many elements combining to make such sweet music it would be cruel to draw your attention to just one of them, I promise you that there’s absolutely nothing about this song that is anything other than top drawer.
