Packed with enough speed to bring down a full-size horse, this latest offering from the brilliantly named Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin will blow you away with guitar sounds that The Strokes know all too well.
There’s barely enough time to take a breath before the song kicks into fifth gear and blasts through your stereo system without even a thought for your poor neighbours. You have to have this turned up to full volume, of course, to appreciate the lightning force that strikes through every last quick-fire beat. It can seem a little formulaic in places, the middle 8 section feels a bit too predictable and doesn’t add a massive amount to the track, yet the burning desire to thrill the listener on a furious mini-adventure remains right until the slightly premature end. The guitar interplay is at the heart of the song and it sounds as though Albert Hammond Jr has been mixing with the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Maximo Park to find a slightly different slant to his sound, something that should certainly be appreciated and applauded.
Get ready to live fast and dangerous, this one has legs. And a jetpack.
