WHAT YEAR IS IT? Has my time machine that I was developing specifically to take me back to the ’80s so that I could join The Breakfast Club finally worked? Sadly not and, in all honesty, I’m a little bit disappointed in You Are Number Six for getting my hopes up so much. Fortunately for him he’s just been pleasing my ears to an unparalleled level with his latest release so I’ll let him off. For now.
As you wander through this aural maze, like Pacman on the run from Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde, there are all sorts of hallmarks from years gone by to pick up on and it feels as though you should have come equipped with plenty of pocket change to play on these audio-fuelled arcade games. Then again, just listening to this music will save you a fortune in the long run and you won’t be losing out on any of the enjoyment. Still, it would be nice to finally get that cherry.
Don’t be afraid to look back to the past, sometimes it reminds us of some of the very best times we’ve had.
