So CHILDCARE are absolutely smashing it at the moment and it turns out ‘Film Club‘ is one hell of a beastly banger that deserves all the plaudits it’s had/could ever get/a truck-full more than are even humanly possible.
Seriously, this is an absolute whopper of a tune by the foursome who have stupidly big things ahead of them SURELY thanks to their effortless swagger and the promise of Woody Allen somehow being involved next week. There’s something truly wonderful about sounds as rough, ready and yet strangely polished as these – it’s as though a post-punk attitude has been handed the budget of some pointless popstar. That’s meant to be a compliment, somehow. What’s truly cracking about this three minute piece of purest gold is the way the attitude or energy never seems to drop and the way in which it almost feels as though you’re already standing in a darkened, crowded room watching the band belt this out before your very eyes.
Probably not a bad shout to whack this on full volume, grab a pint glass and fill it with whatever liquid you so please and shut your eyes. That’ll give you the full-on gig experience. Just try not to start mashing with the wardrobe, you’re not winning that one.
