Moonlands – Shake, I Shook

screen-shot-2017-01-31-at-20-29-03More jangly than my mum’s bangles at airport security – the subject of probably her favourite anecdote when she stunned me into silence by claiming she left them on because she loves being frisked when I foolishly had her on as a guest on an old student radio show and I swear to god that’s sadly 100% true – the excellent Moonlands are back with a single that’ll leave your ears with a tingling sensation not unlike the taste of a Haribo Tangfastic.

The indie quintet get nice and busy with soundscapes underneath a generally upbeat track, complete with a selection of signature indie-pop vibes, bass smoother than butter and a wider array of sounds than my mum made last time we went abroad. How I wish I could forget all about that… While the vocals are enticing and undoubtedly play a huge part in this song’s appeal it really is the swells underneath that make it stand out from the crowd – I absolutely adore the attention to detail the band have taken into making the little things matter and clearly agonising over this for countless hours before signing it off to be mastered.

A genuinely enjoyable track with plenty of character and more going on than first meets the eye.
