Steve Buscemi’s Dreamy Eyes – Closer

fb_img_1487820959731Steve Buscemi’s Dreamy Eyes. Instantly up there as one of the most wonderfully named bands ever.

The wonderful name belongs to a Stockholm quartet signed to Rama Lama Records. Naturally, the name draws you in but they’ve got a smattering of terrific dream-pop tunes to make sure you stay there.

Their fantastic new track ‘Closer‘ featuring the equally fantastic Matilda Wiezell is the first thing you’ll come across when clicking on their Soundcloud profile out of pure irresistible curiosity. It follows on from a highly promising brace of debut tracks put out last year.

It’s stunning to listen to. Instantly groovy and throughly feel-good from the get go thanks to a very danceable rhythm section and poppy, math-y riffs very reminiscent of Foals in their Antidotes days. After a brief lull towards the end the track bursts off again this time with an undertone of psychy guitar lines working under the lead riff and dreamy synth lines.

A big part of this tracks loveable nature is the subtle vocal warmth generated by both frontman Elias Mahfoud and featured artist Matilda Wiezell, a combination that excels in a similar way to that of Rae Morris and Bombay Bicycle Club frontman Jack Steadman once upon a time.

It really is bloody lovely. Sweden is knocking out some right scorching new bands right now, although I doubt many have the tunes or name to rival Steve Buscemi’s Dreamy Eyes.
