Chug your way through the desert in an old RV with the windows down, your sunglasses on and – for no real reason – your neighbour’s labrador also along for the ride, hanging his head out the window with some kind of special doggy sunglasses you’re weirdly jealous of. On the stereo? Oh, it obviously has to be this brand new ripper from The Desert Line as they rock on to pastures new.
The San Francisco band rock out at a steady pace, never losing control of the wheel yet somehow still finding ways to excite you and make the journey that bit more interesting than a run-of-the-mill, repetitive painting by numbers type affair. From the harmonies to the delicate yet somewhat gritty guitars this is such an expertly constructed piece of music that you’d be forgiven for thinking this lot might even have build the very motor vehicle you find yourself travelling in.
Anyone with half a brain knows that the journey is far more important than the final destination and – when you’ve got something this brilliant leading you there – then you’re embarking on a trip of a lifetime.
