Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? While my mirror is either on the fritz or some bloke named ‘Keith’ is a right stunner, I’ve been tuning in to this new dreamy delight from FAIRCHILD as I await the magic mirror repair man.
Softer to the touch than a bunny that’s just been fluffed up by a hairdryer, this tender slice of indie pop from the Gold Coast sextet is so pleasing on the ear it might be worth looking into how much flights down under cost so I can go up to them all and stroke each of their faces as I thank them in return before inevitably having to say so long and return to London’s clammy streets. This feels like incredibly intelligent, well-orchestrated music that has been choreographed with greater detail than the Bolshoi Ballet or an Arrested Development joke that you’ll end up waiting two series for the punchline of.
So thank you, Australian music-makers. I assume they’re just thanking us in return for all the fish? Or maybe for listening. Who cares – we got this beaut out of them so any trade has definitely worked in our favour.
