You know what, I reckon Luster might just have some windows. The Danish outfit (featuring Palace Winter’s guitarist Jacob Haubjerg up front) have clearly spotted that right now fair London is in a bit of a heatwave that’s sending those of us with hay fever round the ruddy bend. Yes, we very much do have the heat. Take that, Denmark!
Not only do we have this ferocious fireball shining down on us at maximum capacity, we’ve also got the joy of tuning in to the particularly jangly new single from the aforementioned Danes which takes in all kind of ’80s influences as it goes about its poppy way as stunningly as the perfect breeze. It feels like a step back to the time when pop songs could be both proper cheesy and yet still musically brilliant and addictive. That synth line feels straight out of Ferris Bueller’s dreams and the guitars might as well be Marty McFly and his mates having a good old fashioned jam session. It’s jauntier than the angle of a cocky gentleman’s hat and more infectious than whatever it is that’s making me itch.
In short, it’s a belter from start to finish that’ll having you jumping for joy and ending up caught in a freeze frame for the whole weekend. Not an ideal situation but if this track keeps playing you’ll do just fine.
