Soft Fangs – Honey Colony

Screen Shot 2017-09-10 at 17.23.54Here’s three minutes of your life to spend pining over what could have been if things had worked out a little differently, courtesy of a deeply emotional offering from Soft Fangs, the project of Brooklyn-based songwriter, John Lutkevich.

Softer than whatever toilet roll it is that uses that slogan you’re thinking of right now, it has a beautifully familiar feel to it that’ll make you believe you’re at home, curled up on the sofa with the one you love, questioning whether this was indeed the right path. That red blanket maybe isn’t as comfortable as you first thought it was, was buying it a mistake? The vocals seep through as if they’ve been whispered into your each from less than an inch away and the closeness of the sound brings you right into the middle of everything. Softness runs through the guitars, the drums and every last element of this bewitching tune as it plays down any hints of greatness laced within it by being more approachable than an old family friend.

Everything will be alright in the end, you probably just need another nice warm cup of tea and you’ll be right as rain. This is, quite simply, gorgeous listening.
