Me Not You make some kind of weird, atmospheric pop that gets me all aflutter and leaves me feeling as though I’ve turned up criminally underdressed for their fancy dinner party. Their gorgeous sounds are the sort of thing you may think humans don’t really make but… Well, here we are.
Following on from their ace Reckoning 1 EP, we asked the NYC pair to pick five songs they love for our latest handful. Just because… First though, here’s them being brilliant;
Hüsker Dü – Don’t Want to Know if You are Lonely
…..because I woke up to the shitty news that Grant Hart died. spent the morning listening to Hüsker Dü. this is one of my favorite songs of theirs, and the drumming is amazing.
Vince Staples – Crabs in a Bucket
…..because I love everything about this Vince Staples record. the production is consistently inventive and captivating. he starts things off on the right foot with “Crabs in a Bucket”. sombre and creepy and brash as all hell and then that beat drops. dope.
Mount Kimbie – We Go Home Together
…..because we’ve been all about this album since it came out last week. brilliant mix of live instrumentation, though electronic in approach. just an inspiration all around.
Death from Above 1979 – Never Swim Alone
…..because it’s fun as fuck. as they made the “We Will Rock You” beat sound fresh. and because it reminds me of Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality”, another jam. and because of the guitars. hell yeah.
Diet Cig – Sixteen
….because this is my favorite album to listen to while biking around New York. and because we’ve all felt this way at some point.
