Brighton quartet Thyla are back at it again with the big hits as latest single ‘Blame‘ is another certified belter from start to finish. Raucous, with the energy of at least two of those oversized Red Bull knock-off bottles, there’s a hefty riff to keep your ears alight while Millie Duthie’s voice belts out lyrics with the drive of someone who is at their wits end.
That bass is an absolute beauty as well, the sound feels far to cultured for your usual indie pop muck-around and it’s details like this that help elevate the band above their peers. Thyla somehow manage to capture the same effervescence of their live show onto the record and even if you’re listening to this sat alone in your bedroom you’ll feel the urge to start jumping around and really getting into it. Mind the wardrobe though, you probably won’t get your deposit back if your landlord notices you’ve been shoulder barging it repeatedly in an effort to feel like you’re at a gig before you go to work every morning.
Undoubtedly one of the best indie/alternative bands on the live circuit at the moment and they’re yet to drop a clanger. Not even when the Soup Dragon is after them.
