When a song is able to set the mood within the first 3 seconds, you know you’re in for something that has been thought through right down to every last tiny detail. ‘Be Mine‘ is one such example of this as you’ll find yourself drifting away on the soothing synth, the calmness brought through this making each and every percussive hit and individual word hit just that little bit harder.
Though my tastes may generally be a little more upbeat, I can certainly appreciate the mellowing tones of Dark Train as they have put together 5 minutes of music that effortlessly transports you far away from your everyday world, into a realm where a single bass drum acts as the heartbeat of every last person and everyone is in complete sync and harmony. The guiding voice that narrates your journey through this musical adventure is enticing and each time it lingers you find yourself eagerly anticipation the next word that bit more than you had expected. Perhaps the synth that takes over from the voice as the lead point of interest is slightly too harsh, however, it certainly does not take anything away from the overall mood that is so easily created by the duo.
Dark Train have certainly achieved a signature sound within their music and ‘Be Mine‘ is the perfect way to dip your toes into their back catalogue.
