Thom Morecroft is one of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting – the fact that he has a truly incredible voice and a knack for writing beautiful songs and spinning glorious lyrical yarns only helps my admiration for the man grow.
His husky tones have returned to my ears once again with the release of new song ‘On All Night‘, in which Thom tells another of his tremendous tales, this time accompanied by a toe-tapping skiffle beat and twanging banjo that will ensure that you’re feeling in the perfect mood for a good old-fashioned jig. The vocal harmonies between Thom and long-time collaborator Elle Schillereff are as tight as ever and he seems so much more at home when accompanied by a band as he has managed to assemble a selection of musicians who are all on the very same page and seem to be taking great joy in the wonderful sounds they are creating. Whether it be the sounds of brushes on the drums or some top-notch riffs on the bass, everything comes together perfectly to create a song that comes straight from Thom’s heart and oozes with the charm that simply oozes from the man.
I’d be more than happy to have this go on all night. Sorry, that was terrible… This song deserves a better send-off!
With lyrical reference to the paths trodden by Thom and his compatriots, ‘On All Night‘ tells stories that you’ll never tire of hearing upon a bed of music that is undeniably good for the soul.
