With stunning synths, infectious riffs and a distinctive vocal, Alphabetic have created a cracking pop song in the form on ‘Good Lovers‘. Whilst the whole song may be an utter triumph, the chorus stands out as being one of the best I’ve come across in a long while – thanks to a top-notch vocal refrain and a wonderful contrast between both vocalists.
There’s plenty of appeal to the band, the way they mix synth sounds with the standard voice/guitar/bass/drums format adds a tad more to the band in comparison to some of their competitors and the way that they handle the breakdown in this track has all the energy of a pumping dance track without any of the unnecessary pounding bass. You’ll find yourself enveloped by layers and layers of exquisite musical textures, surround by guitars completed with spot on effects, bass and drums that are steady yet effective, delightful harmonies and a lead singer who has such an intriguing voice that you’ll find yourself captivated by each and every word.
At its heart, this is simply a catchy pop song yet there feels like there are so many hidden gems within the sound and it is a rather impressive single, complete with that elusive ability to find its way back into your head at any moment of the day. An absolute corker.
