Bull In The Whisky Shop – Lion

Screen shot 2014-11-16 at 12.34.23Rather than be petty and focus on how there should be an ‘e’ in the word ‘whiskey’, I’m going to tell you about how incredible the sound of Bull In The Whisky Shop is. It’s one of the fullest sounds you’ll ever hear from a shoegaze band, harking back to some pure 90s goodness with an added touch of determination and enthusiasm woven into a psychedelic, distorted head-banger.

It’s impossible to ignore the sheer power of the guitars on this trick as they fill every last inch of the aural spectrum, leaving the vocals with the task of being just as powerful in their delivery as they attempt to crash, headfirst, through the centre of this sonic beauty. Are they up to the task? Oh yes, without a shadow of a doubt the drive and willpower insinuated by the guitars is present in every last syllable that smashes its way into your ears. There’s a magnificent sound to the vocals that only seems to enhance their raw desire and leaves the band’s heartfelt message lingering as you lay back and indulge yourself in the guitars that roar like the mighty feline beast itself.

The current shoegaze revival seems to have suited Bull In The Whisky Shop rather well as they have embraced the spirit of this glorious musical genre and created a song that will instantly blow you away without a moment’s hesitation.
