This is definitely one of those times I’ve totally dropped the ball and let an absolutely brilliant track sit, festering in my inbox for a few months before I remember how incredible it is and frantically stop everything I’m doing to get a review written. Blissfully reminiscent of everything that made the 90s such an enjoyable time to be alive, this beauty from Whistlejacket is a mind-melding masterpiece that’ll have you getting out your old guitar amps and cranking the distortion right up.
Of course, you’ll never be able to get close to the crunching yet somehow sweet balance of guitars that these guys are able to muster, they’ve got the science of guitar tones down to a fine art and it’ll take you years to come up with such a perfect balance as this. The vocals provide a more than welcome narrative over the swathes of instruments that flood your ears and they act as that crucial focus point that our brains so desperately desire if we’re to fall hopelessly in love with a song. It’s sheer power from start to finish and you’ll not encounter the slightest hesitation as these guys go about their business in some style.
Get this down you ASAP.
