BIGGER IS ALWAYS BETTER! Well, at least that’s what I reckon someone told Strangely Alright when they asked about the most effective way to open up their latest track. Once the doors, and probably walls, have been knocked down by the introductory blasts, the band are free to roam as lords of their own domain.
It’s not quite as simple as categorising this as pop or rock, though there may be a distinctly hard rock feel to the guitars they seem somewhat betrayed by a selection of the melodies and themes – and the fact that the chorus sounds distinctly glam. But why limit yourself to one genre of music? By fusing together sounds that ring true of everything from Bowie and T-Rex to The Darkness and (albeit slightly muted) Blink-182, these guys are able to find that middle ground which means that those on either side of the snobbery line may be happy to tread without fear of any consequences.
Come on, you know you want to give it a listen – don’t be afraid to get up and dance too, it’s only natural.
