On a morning that began with me being quite literally blown off my feet as I walked to work (looks like the diet is going well!) it’s a pleasure to have the folks at Rormix with their feet on the ground, keeping me from floating away on a vicious breeze. So whatever you’re doing, take a little slice out of your day to have a listen to this week’s picks by clicking on the images below – you won’t be sorry;
Dream Lake – World Of Dreams
Dream Lake is the Swedish dream pop duo comprised of the professional dancer and lead vocalist Isabella Svärdstam and multi-instrumentalist and music producer Niklas Willar Lidholm. Formed in 2011, they started to write music together and experimented with different sounds after meeting in high school. An essential listen for anyone who loves nostalgic dream-pop.
The Pink Flowers – Kids
The Pink Flowers are a psych-rock duo from Toronto, Canada. Comprised of Ryan Faist and Nolan Bennett, their latest three track EP ‘Joy’ is out now, and well worth a listen.
Strange Names – Ricochet
Fletcher Aleckson, Francis Ximenez and Liam Benzvi make for the indie pop three piece Strange Names, based in Brooklyn, New York. They create catchy and upbeat, synth infused rock and are a music hear for any fans of Talking Heads. This is their latest offering – Ricochet, and their debut album is due to be released on May 19th.
The Phantom Sound – Get To Me
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Marisa Schlussel is The Phantom Sound. Having played in bands most of here life as a bass player and back up singer, she has now relocated to London and working on her debut solo album with the help of Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, Big Star, R.E.M.).
Made Violent – Inside Out
A year ago indie three-piece Made Violent secluded themselves in a cabin to make music. The result is bloody brilliant. Last month the band released their debut EP as well as making their first appearance at SXSW. Not bad for a band barely into their second year…
I’m off to brave the wind again…
