The Jackobins – Waiting On The Sun

Screen shot 2015-06-24 at 09.30.03Have we gone back a decade or so? Am I a teenager again, once more troubled with the choice of listening to any one of hundreds of guitar bands that bring legions of smiles to my face? Am I free of debt? Unfortunately the answer to all of these is a resounding no, however, these sounds from The Jackobins do transport me back to a time when everything was simpler and, most importantly, when I first fell head over heels in love with music.

With a lead vocal reminiscent of Kasabian’s Tom Meighan and a general sound of top-notch mid-’00s indie/alternative guitar driven sound, the Liverpudlian five piece go about their work with a no nonsense attitude and the result is a track packed with more energy that a gallon of Lucozade. Sure, there are a few minor tweaks needed where the super-shiny tightness could be enhanced just a wee bit but that’s probably just me being incredibly picky because I’ve struggled to find any other flaws with this absolute belter whatsoever.

If you’re looking for something to wake you out of a slump, this’ll do the job in an instant.
