Girl Friend – Arrive Alone Leave Alone

Screen shot 2015-07-05 at 20.59.39There are very few pop-based bands that are able to keep my attention for more than a couple of songs, in fact I don’t think I’ve been quite so obsessed with anyone in the pop realm as I am with Girl Friend since B*Witched were in the charts. Remember them?

But lets not turn this into a Peter Kay routine about cultural references, I’m nowhere near clever enough for that.

Once more these indie-pop sounds are covered in glossy enough paint that your front door would shine all through the winter and the upbeat nature of the sounds will have your hips swaying from side to side as you apply that crucial second coating. With summer well in season these are the sort of sounds I expect to hear being blazed out of every single car and bedroom window as this is very close to being the perfect indie-pop record. Seriously, I can’t find a single thing to be petty about and that’s a real achievement.

I might not like pop, or really anything that’s cool, but this lot can entertain my ears any day.
