Whitecliff – Young Lovers

Screen shot 2015-08-13 at 08.49.48Other than wishing I’d turned the volume in my headphones down a little when this cracking slice of indie pop glory from Whitecliff first entered my ears, there’s very little that can be said that isn’t in favour of this little firecracker as it runs headfirst through walls to get into your ears with as much urgency as possible.

That sense of urgency is what drives the whole track forward and, while the vocals and lyrics can be a little too cheesy-pop, the energy that runs through the band as they jump through every last hoop that’s set up in front of them has me wondering just how electrifying their live shows could be. The excitable guitars sit atop a sturdy pile of bass and drums that pave the way for limitless creativity in the foreground as the world that surrounds you disappears until you find yourself with your nose pressed against the screen in an attempt to get as close to the music as possible. Obviously that’s a stupid thing to do, but if you try hard enough…

Not one for a hangover morning but if you’re in the mood for something to get you excited this should do the trick.
