If you’ve ever found Vampire Weekend even the slightest bit tolerable I’d whole-heartedly recommend checking out these sounds from Austria’s Steaming Satellites as it contains all of the charming guitar licks with just a bit more beat behind the equally-distinctive vocals.
Whether you’re pulled in by the opening riffs or if it’s the harmonies that get you in the end, something is sure to take you by the ears and lead you out into this vast aural treasure trove. The band aren’t afraid to let the space in between the sounds show and they use this added atmosphere to make the feeling when everything comes together so much sweeter. The lyrics are likely to strike a chord with anyone who has mis-spent (or well spent, depending on how you want to look at it) their youths and the addressing of such a familiar problem does exactly what you’d hope it would. We’ve all made mistakes but if we hadn’t then we wouldn’t have had any fun, this song perfectly addresses the realities of life without ever feeling in the slightest bit preachy. That’s what it does for me, anyway.
You’re not wasting a minute of your time when you’ve got this on.
