FEW BITS – Anyone Else

Screen Shot 2016-07-02 at 16.14.44Any Belgians feeling a little low after their beating by the mighty Wales on Friday night (did I mention my nan is Welsh? Hanging on to that for dear life…) can cheer themselves up by realising that FEW BITS are a shining beacon of all things wonderful in Belgian culture – so much so that I promise not to bring up any clichés, honest.

First things first, the production on ‘Anyone Else‘ is absolutely sublime and fits just so perfectly with the debonair vocals and the style so casual that you’d be forgiven for thinking it was no more than a satin sheet. In just two and a half minutes these indie dreamers from the mainland are able to capture your heart by showing a calmness and not letting on that they know just how ruddy talented they are. While the guitars and rhythm section do indeed delight there’s no escaping that the reason this is just so irresistible is the way Karolien Van Ransbeeck’s voice leaves you hanging on, desperate for more precious stories to depart her lips in such a stunning manner.

They may not be winning the Euros this time out but, as a Brit, I can’t really hold that against Belgium. I can, however, be very jealous that they can be proud to call FEW BITS their own.
