Soffía Björg – The Road

screen-shot-2016-11-29-at-21-13-36Each of us in our lives will travel down many roads. Some will be long and winding, others will be brief yet terrifying, others still might even have a derelict building next to it that blatantly used to be a Little Chef. Whatever the road, one such idea for your travels is making a cassette tape with this gem from Icelandic genius Soffía Björg on the stereo of your old car and buckling in for a far more enjoyable ride.

With a smudge of blues coming through on occasion this marching beauty rumbles along pleasantly throughout and provides a four minute journey that’ll make sure you end up exactly where you’re supposed to be – even if it isn’t where you first thought you’d end up. There’s not a second where your driver loses her cool as she provides a welcome, smooth journey for you to slip into easier than than silk slippers that weird neighbour from across the street bought you for your birthday.

If all you think of when you think of an extremely talented Icelandic songstress is that shouty, incredibly famous one then it might be worth you broadening your horizons. There’s a new ice queen in town.
