Strolling into life like the undercurrent of a city outskirts on an evening when traffic is moving freely, this latest tune from London-based duo Young Romance is far more exciting than a casual walk alongside the North Circular.
With a lead vocal that has a gentle touch of Kate Bush lacing the edges of it, the pair combine forces to create a driving masterpiece with a chorus that blasts away with all guns blazing yet somehow retains a certain level of class. This contagious contradiction is a delightful break from the norm and each time the vocals and rampaging guitars match up there’s a feeling of hearing a couple of geniuses at work. Though it fails to reach the three minute mark that ‘left wanting more feeling’ is at odds with the fact that you’ll be left feeling like you’ve already been treated to more than your fair share of musical goodness.
This pair have got plenty to show for their efforts and the lo-fi gem on offer truly is something rather special indeed.
