Perhaps it sounds a little arrogant of The Sundowners to not bother with another name for their latest smasher and simply label it as a ‘Great Beauty‘. That being said, they’re definitely right as this one is a wee bit special. By which I mean it’s absolutely fantastic and you should get on it quicker than a large gentleman on leftover turkey trimmings.
With a slight air of mystery – aided by one hell of a spooktacular middle eight – the Liverpool five piece yet again provide down-to-earth, drifting droplets of musical genius that say more than endless hours of speeches ever could. Every move seems tailored to perfection as their bewitching spell is cast over your ears, leaving you unable to look away. Might even be that your jaw needs closing as it’s dropped so far there’s a droplet of drool beginning to come into contact with the back of your hand. I’ll give you a second to clean up.
What I’m trying (and failing miserably) to say is that this is a swirling, mind-melding slice of pure sonic glory that deserves to be welcomed into your life as if it were the most adorable puppy you’ve ever seen.
