Man, it’s good to have Dan Croll back. He dropped anthemic new track ‘Away From Today‘ last night ahead of a new UK tour and it’s bloody brilliant.
He’s been away for a spell since he dropped ‘Swim‘ last August, following another break post ‘Sweet Disarray‘. We now know though he’s been busy working his magic and in this wonderful new number we’ve got something to get our teeth stuck into for the new year.
There’s all the hallmarks of old-school Croll as it twinkles along with an array of drums creating a throbbing beat sitting neatly alongside acoustics and that oh so lovely twinkle again. Teasing and teasing until that awesome Croll chorus magic bursts out again and again. Oh yes.
It even gets a bit jazzy at one point, forever bending those genres, eh Dan, I salute you. Radio 1 gave it a play straight off the bat and it’s easy to see why, it’s seriously addictive. I think I played it well into double figures before penning these words (then numerous times afterwards too, of course).
‘Away From Today‘ is just one of many new tracks Croll will be showcasing at a small flurry of UK dates this May so get yourselves along. In the meantime get this belter in your playlists and impress your mates. Dan Croll is back and he means business.
