Straight out of the ’60s, through a wee bit of a vocal filter and into your ears, Frozen Houses is back with a new tune that’ll bob along more pleasantly than a seagull in Lanzarote catching up on a relaxing day in the sun while the tourists lay still in bed, recovering from the night before when they chased the aforementioned seagull with an inflatable guitar.
This guitar works a bit better than that one and it keeps the flow of this new track nicely. It’s not the most thought-provoking thing you’ll hear today but it will lighten your mood and pull your head out of whatever tragic news you’re reading or clickbait you’re flicking through, anxiously hoping you’re not that character you already know you are from that TV show you’ve sort of seen a few bits of but haven’t followed the series too attentively. It feels like this song is all about enjoying the good times but frankly I’ve not paid too much attention to the lyrics because the melodies and textures have had me away dreaming, can you believe?
If you’re after something a little softer and lighter than whatever item in Philadelphia’s range claims to be best for you then you could very much enjoy this – it’s incredibly easy to get lost in and that’s not a bad thing by any stretch.
