Oh just shut everything else in the world up and listen to Girl Ray already. Seriously, anything around you that’s making even the faintest noise turn it off or throw it out the window because you can’t let even the tiniest thing mess with how ludicrously good this tune is.
If you’ve listened to this talented bunch before then the vocal style will come as no shock – it’s one of the best formatted vocal ideas there’s been in years and on every song these clever dickies do they master it from start to finish. Adding in a piano that feels like it might have got lost somewhere in the roaring ’20s and a full band so remarkably ‘on point’ (as I believe the young people say) adds the icing on top of this cake that you already know is going to mean having to double up your exercises for the next week to get over.
They may say that they’ve done many stupid things but I’m not buying that for a second. There’s not a single thing that’s even remotely out of place here and this really just ought to be your new fascination. Throw out your football/cars/attractive ladies/Simpsons posters (no prizes for guessing which one I have in front of me…) and start making your very own Girl Ray wallpaper.
