Never be afraid to try something new, you might just like it. A good place to start might just be this new corker from Phobophobes because they’ve managed to mix a dollop Fat Whites in with some old school prog, a bit of Franz Ferdinand and god knows what else to create a track so kaleidoscopically beautiful you’ll be blinking like you’ve just put in contact lenses for the first time all week.
‘Mary was a single mum…‘ is a great line, as is ‘Jesus was a carpenter…‘ and, well, just about every other one in this chaotic mess that somehow feels more organised than even the most pristine and polished pop song. Step right outside of your comfort zone and breathe in the air of this sweaty mushroom cloud that’s filling your senses. There’s sod all you can do about it and you’re a tit if you try and do anything to keep this from controlling every one of your limbs. You can say goodbye to any of the other lives you’ve lived, you’re theirs to do with what they want now. Oops, didn’t I warn you that this might happen? Must have slipped my mind…
Don’t be afraid for a second, embrace your new overlords. I, for one, already have and intend to worship at their altar for a little while yet.
