With a track title basically outlining what to expect from this pop tartlet, a pop-let if you will, Fang Night slide onto my radar as if they were oiled up to the gills on their way across a particularly smooth laminate flooring.
There’s something super-saccharine about the set-up here with the joint vocals and the general popped off its rocker vibe yet it still manages to be charming, even with some synths that feel like they might have fallen off the Vengabus (To be fair though, the production as a whole is top drawer). But, as the opening line said, this is a steady cruise and as the song rolls on you feel yourself understanding where the London duo are coming from and they do a rather stellar job of keeping that left eyebrow in a position that would make The Rock proud. As the lower-end synths rumble on and the vocals carry out their duty to a decent enough level, it’s the fiddly bits that shine on and if you’re someone who prefers to appreciate the little things then this could cause you to explode into a polite ripple of applause.
Definitely not for everyone but there’s a spark in there somewhere, it’ll be interesting to see where they go from here.
