Basement Revolver – Tree Trunks

Screen Shot 2017-07-02 at 21.57.48The combination of the vocals and guitar sound in the first five seconds alone in this Basement Revolver track should be enough to convince you that you’re listening to something so expertly crafted it would hold up if you attacked it with a sledgehammer.

In truth, the resulting sounds are stunning as the Hamilton trio (that’s right, they’re Canadian… Eh) suffer no rushes of blood to the head as they opt for a measured, considered approach that makes every last note stand out so much more. This sense of patience, of knowing, sees them slowly and expertly craft melodies and rhythms that are gorgeous in their sparsity and are enough to utterly convince you that you’ve finally found that inner peace you’ve spent so long looking for. Even the harsh guitar sounds that join in the fun do nothing to dissuade you from the fact that this is an incredibly emotionally-charged piece of music that simply stands alone.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but in this case it’s clearly in the ears. Simply put, this is beautiful music for the soul.
