One of the all time WCT favourites is BACK and we couldn’t be happier. Now showing off her skills under the name Vanity Fairy, that Kate Bush edge remains while the Captain Beefheart sound has been replaced by something a bit more pop and radio friendly than Daisy Capri’s previous incarnation.
Synths are abound as this imitation ’80s banger brings in a riff pinched from Vulfpeck along with those fairy-esque vocals that no doubt are involved in the name of this new creation. The track reads like a book, with a familiar beginning and end surrounding a tale full of vibrant imagery and inspired sonic gems. With a chorus that’s so damn smooth, you’d slip right across it if you only had socks on, this is a pure joy to listen to and will help your mind wander from all else in the world.
A very, very welcome return for an incredibly talented artist and no doubt the start of something incredibly special indeed.
