School friends The Native have come out of Plymouth with more guns blazing than even the most highly-equipped ship in their local dockyard. Not sure the ships there are really the kind that have cannons, but when has the truth ever stopped anyone eh?
This ticks all the classic indie pop anthem that’s made for radio hallmarks and highlights the potential of the band to go on and really do something. Imagine still wanting to go on and spend your life making music with the same people you did when you were at school forever though. Jeez, that sounds like a bit of a slog.
Then again, all the bands I was in back in my teenage days were full of genuinely lovely people and in hindsight it might well be me that was the problem with that ego and those delusions of grandeur. Still, I’m great though – right? Please validate me.
