No artist has got me as excited in the last few years as I was the first time I heard Zuzu, with the original versions of ‘What You Want’ and ‘Get Off’ immediately highlighting just how talented the proudly Scouse artist is.
‘Timing’ is probably the song I’ve enjoyed the most since those early gems, and there’s so much to love about how this track blends her space-centric aesthetic with more of that raw energy from those early tracks. The harmonies and backing vocals are absolutely perfect, and the overall feeling of this is just measured to perfection. Oh, and those guitars breaks and riffs that flitter away just out of centre are absolutely spot on.
At the heart of it all, it’s that voice that shines through above anything else with a drawl that highlights how Zuzu is a real one of a kind.
