BOYS – Off To New York City

Screen Shot 2016-08-30 at 19.41.54One of the last times I was able to get back behind the WCT keyboard was to tell you how much BOYS have become my new favourite thing and – now that they’ve unleashed their second aural treat on the world – I can confirm they’re still pretty high up the pecking order.

So much so that I’ve managed to rope them into playing the first (and quite possibly last) night of live music where everything will be taking place under the We Close Tonight name. It’s free, obviously, so if you fancy coming to see three bands I picked because I really wanted to see them live with only my reputation at stake. And, let’s be honest, that’s been dodgy from the start.

But back to the band and it’s no real surprise that ‘Off To New York City‘ picks up in the hazy delights that its predecessor left behind. As the fog machine fades ever so slightly there’s still an air of West Coast casualness about the way the foursome operate and it would just be rude to remind them London’s a lot less palm trees and a lot more concrete jungle.

Their sound is fresh, their spirit is more laid back than Seth Rogen after a wake and bake and there still seems like there’s plenty left on the horizon for these BOYS.

Think I’m wrong? Come tell me yourself – I’ll probably apologise and offer to buy you a pint. Because that’s the kind of nice guy I am.
