Alright, alright, alright, let’s get some of you away from your comfy sofas and cups of PG Tips and out onto the streets of London. And then let’s get you off the streets and into The Finsbury on a Tuesday night because some fool has let me pick some bands for a gig so that I can go out and get drunk on a weeknight without feeling too guilty.
The folks down at The Finsbury are running the month long #Blogtober during which 30 excellent music blogs – and yours truly – are each responsible for curating a night of sounds to try and get the song people to stop playing with their Pokemons and check out some new music. Plus, it’s absolutely ruddy free so that ‘I’m short on funds’ nonsense ain’t going to fly here.
OBLIGATORY GET YOUR TICKETS HERE LINK. YES IT IS FREE BUT DON’T CHANCE TURNING UP ON THE NIGHT YOU CLOD.
So who have we got for the WCT spectacular?
Headlining the night will be long-term faves of the blog The Bulletproof Bomb. Having first picked up on them a couple of years ago when they released ‘Five Green Bottles‘ I’ve constantly kept up with the lads, premiering the video for the ace ‘Siege‘ and loving (albeit not writing about…) their ace new EP which is one of the best things I’ve heard all year. Expect loud, punky guitars, thundering baselines and the voice of a bloke I once dubbed something along the lines of ‘the male Lady Sovereign’. Sorry about that…
Slap-bang in the middle of the bill are the exquisite White Fever who blew me away with an amazing visual show at Shoreditch’s Old Blue Last the first time I saw them. Their track ‘The Killing Kind‘ is an absolute stormer and the band put one something that’s a treat for the eyes, the ears and the soul that’ll have you absolutely beaming. Expect the spectacular.
Early doors will be newcomers BOYS who I’ve taken a bit of a chance on having never seen them live. Still, their sound excited me very much as both ‘Nice Guys‘ and ‘Off To New York City‘ have a cracking lo-fi, blissed out vibe that’ll ease you into the evening as if you were taking the plunge and skinny dipping in a hot tub. Mind one of those bubble jets doesn’t go… Never mind.
So come on, come out for some fun and watch some top quality bands for just the cost of however drunk you want to get.
It’ll be a right laugh.
